As I have been processing first the spectre, then the threat, then the actual overturning of Roe v. Wade, I have felt a silent scream rising up in my soul. I am not a woman who knows how to keep silent—but this particular scream seemed blocked and has yet to audibly emerge. I created this work to release this scream, overlaying a self-portrait of my silent scream on images captured in my practice of elemental ceremony and prayer—the place I have turned to in moments when my scream would not or could not escape.
